At the Southern Metropolitan Coastcare Program Reference Group Meeting, August 2006, Local Government representatives approved the implementation of the Coastal Photo Monitoring Project. The project would assist in the delivery of monitoring requirements approved under Local Government Coastal Strategies and relevant Foreshore Management Plans for re-vegetation and erosion control actions. The objective of the project is to provide a visual record of change to selected priority sites within the Southern Perth Metropolitan coastal zone. The Photo Monitoring Project was initially conducted over a two year period (July 2006 to June 2008) but it has been extended and is now in its 6th year.
At sites selected in association with the relevant Local Government Officer, a series of photographs will be taken by the Southern Metropolitan Coastcare Officer. The photo monitoring sites will be updated at regular intervals and a progress report containing the updated photos will be prepared for each Local Government.
