Energy Management

Escalating energy costs and a diminishing supply of non-renewable energy sources are challenges that all business owners are faced with.

PRNRM believes in empowering and supporting micro to small businesses so that they are better able to manage their energy use and reduce energy wastage.  PRNRM have invested in developing energy assessment tools to assist this sector which are available from this site for free.  These resources outline how to develop an Energy Management Action Plan (EMAP) and include resources such as Guidelines and Case Studies for various business sectors that have been through the EMAP process. Staff reminder prompts such as posters and stickers are also available as are training tools that can be used to educate and engage staff in energy management.

PRNRM staff have worked with a wide range of commercial businesses and have conducted energy audits throughout the state. PRNRM also works closely with Industry and Business Associations and advisory centres and understands the pressures and challenges facing a small business owner.

PRNRM's Sustainable Production staff are able to provide advice on energy, water and waste issues and can also conduct Audits of businesses wishing to improve their use of these resources.

While every business is unique in the way it uses energy, most businesses use energy for providing lighting, heating and cooling, refrigeration and to run equipment like air compressors and the principles for improving energy use can be similarly applied.

From the work conducted in partnership with these local businesses and other local Western Australian businesses, Guidelines for Energy Management have been produced and can be downloaded by clicking here.

You are encouraged to view the Case Studies and Guidelines for Energy Management and use the tools freely available from this web site to help your business reduce its energy use, cost and Greenhouse Gas emissions.
